Why after-hours, and who runs it

After 17h00 the Palais closes to the public. In that window the building is quiet, and a private group has the Grand Staircase, the Grand Foyer, and the grand rooms without the daytime crowd. You skip the queue that forms by mid-morning, because by the time you arrive it is gone.

A venue guide-lecturer leads every visit. An outside guide is not allowed inside, so the person who shows you the Palais is the venue's own. Uncrowds arranges the private evening end to end, from your first message to your confirmed access.

Questions, answered

The last few things guests ask before they reach out.

Is the Opera Garnier visit private?

Yes. The visit is your group only and is never merged with another group.

When does the Opera Garnier after-hours visit take place?

In the 17h00 to 19h00 slot, after the Palais closes to the public at 17h00.

How long does the visit last?

About an hour and a half, and about two hours if you add an option.

Who guides the visit?

A venue guide-lecturer of the Palais Garnier. An outside guide is not allowed inside, so the guide is always the venue's own.

What languages are available?

French, English, Chinese, Spanish, German, Italian, Portuguese, Japanese, Russian, and Dutch.

How far in advance should I book?

We ask for at least 7 days' notice. The earlier you ask, the better your chance of the date you want.

How do we book?

By inquiry. You send your dates and group size, we confirm with the venue, and we invoice. There is no online calendar and no instant booking.

What will we see inside the Palais Garnier?

Backstage and the public areas, including the Grand Staircase, the Grand Foyer, the lake beneath the Opera, and the costume ateliers.

What is the difference between the classic route and the Phantom route?

Both are the same private visit after closing, told two ways: the venue's classic backstage tour, or one themed on the legend of the Phantom of the Opera. We confirm the route with the venue when you book.

Can children join the visit?

Children under eight are not admitted to the backstage visit, for security. Older children are welcome.

Is the visit accessible for reduced mobility?

Some spaces are confined and not suitable for visitors with reduced mobility. Tell us your needs and we will check with the venue.

Can we add a cocktail, a costume workshop visit, or a retired-dancer meeting?

Yes. The cocktail is available at any group size. The costume workshop visit and the retired-dancer meeting are available for up to twenty guests. We price them when we confirm your evening.

How much does the Opera Garnier evening cost?

From 1,290 euros per group for up to five guests, 2,690 for six to 10, and 3,200 for 11 to 20. Above 20 is on request. Per group, all in.
