Questions, answered

The last few things guests ask before they book.

What makes this different from a regular Versailles tour?

It is private and it is late in the day. Your group is the only one with your guide, you go in as most coach groups are leaving, and you finish in the gardens after the palace closes.

How crowded is Versailles in the late afternoon?

Calmer than the midday peak, not empty. Most day trips from Paris arrive before noon, and by late afternoon the rooms are noticeably quieter, though it varies by season and by exhibition.

What time does it start, and how long is it?

From April to October we go in at 16:20 and finish in the gardens around 20:00, about four hours. From November to March we go in at 15:20 and finish at 18:00, when the gardens close. The palace sells entry in timed slots, so your entry time may move up to 20 minutes; we confirm it by email after you book.

Is my booking confirmed right away?

Yes. Payment confirms your afternoon. We then email your exact entry time and meeting point.

How many people can join?

From two to 12 guests, your group only. For a larger party we arrange it directly.

Are tickets included?

Yes. Palace entry, the group booking that lets your guide lead you inside, and gardens access are all in the price.

Do we visit the gardens and Trianon?

The gardens, yes. After the State Apartments your guide takes you into the gardens, and you can stay on after your guide leaves until they close. Trianon is about a 30 minute walk from the palace and stops admitting visitors before we could reach it, so it is not part of this tour.

Can we take photos?

Yes, for your own use, without flash, tripods or selfie sticks. The estate's rules do not allow posed group photos in the main courtyard or the formal gardens.

How do we get to Versailles?

Transport is not included. The RER C train reaches Versailles Château Rive Gauche in about 40 minutes from central Paris, then it is a 10 minute walk to the palace.

What is your cancellation policy?

Cancel up to 7 days before your visit and we refund 70 percent. Inside 7 days, including bookings made less than 7 days ahead, the booking cannot be refunded or moved. If the palace closes or cancels your visit, we refund in full.

How far in advance should I book?

At least 72 hours ahead. The palace releases dates about three months out, so for spring and summer book as early as you can.

Can we see the palace with nobody else inside?

Yes, on request. After closing, the State Apartments and the Hall of Mirrors can open for your group alone, with the palace's own guide, for up to 25 guests. It is quoted per date and priced in five figures. Tell us your date and group size.

Beyond this afternoon tour, access on request.

Bigger groups, a corporate day, or the palace after closing for up to 25. Nothing beyond the afternoon tour is listed here. Tell us what you have in mind and we design it.
